SHAPIRO, ADAM
HISTORY OF SCIENCE, POLITICAL SCIENCE
Adam R. Shapiro is a historian of science and religion, with interests in the influence of science and religion on public policy. He held appointments at the University of British Columbia, University of Wisconsin, and Birkbeck, University of London before taking up a AAAS science policy fellowship with the U.S. State Department.
His publications include Trying Biology: The Scopes Trial, Textbooks, and the Antievolution Movement in American Schools (Chicago, 2013); and, with co-author Thomas Dixon, the Very Short Introduction to Science and Religion (Oxford, second edition, 2022.) He has also written for The Atlantic, Chronicle of Higher Education, Religion and Politics, American Scientist, and other media outlets.
