KAMWENDO, ZARA THOKOZANI (THOKO)

HISTORY OF SCIENCE, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY STUDIES, SOCIOLOGY

Thoko is an interdisciplinary researcher working in the fields of history and sociology. Her work is grounded in the Sociology of Scientific Knowledge (SSK) and explores notions of rationality, the psychology of risk and bias, the relationship between the construction of scientific and religious knowledge and the correlation between funding cultures and discipline formation.

She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Edinburgh on the history of the Heuristics and Biases Programme and Behavioural Economics.

Thoko is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the “Equipping Christian Leadership in an Age of Science” (ECLAS) project at St John’s College, Durham University, where her research focuses on the attitudes of senior church leaders toward science and science engaged theology.
