Edward Guimont received his PhD in history from the University of Connecticut.

His dissertation was on the political applications of pseudohistorical mythologies for settler colonial states, focusing on Great Zimbabwe as a case study.

His current research is focused on the role of Flat Earth beliefs in anti-imperial political movements among colonized peoples in the nineteenth century.
