BILGILI, ALPER

HISTORY OF SCIENCE, SOCIOLOGY

Alper Bilgili is an associate professor of sociology who specialises in sociology and history of science.

He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Boğaziçi University and his Ph.D. in sociology from Istanbul University. He was formerly a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Leeds, in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science.

Bilgili has delivered several courses on the relationship between science and religion. His books include Bilim Ne Değildir? [What Science is Not] (2017) and Darwin ve Osmanlılar [Darwin and the Ottomans] (2018).

Alper is a member of the international advisory board for the British Society for the History of Science.
