PHILOSOPHY, SOCIOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY OF RELIGION
Maria Rogińska, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology (Sociology of Religion Department) at the Pedagogical University of Cracow, Poland.
Her research interests focus on the relationship between science and religion, with specific emphasis on the sociological analysis of intercultural differences in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. She is the author of After the collapse: Russian Orthodox community in the post-Soviet period (2017) and co-author of Reformation and Modernity (with P. Stawiński and Michal Warchala, 2017).
She has just completed a study on the (ir)religious ideologies of physicists and biologists of Poland and Ukraine which is discussed in her upcoming book Natural scientists about the Supernatural: A comparative study of Polish and Ukrainian scientists.
Her new project focuses on the scientific and religious imaginary of natural scientists from Catholic Lithuania, Muslim Azerbaijan and Orthodox Ukraine and is an attempt to take a deeper sociological look at the observations made in the course of her previous field work.
