TEIXEIRA, PEDRO
EDUCATION | POLITICAL SCIENCE | SCIENCE EDUCATION
I am adjunct professor in the Department of Education at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil, and coordinator of Diversias – Study Group on Diversity, Education and Controversies. My main research interests are in Education and Science Teaching, with a focus on the teaching of controversial issues, religion, conservatism, human rights, and differences in school contexts. More specifically, I have a large experience on researching about students’ and teachers’ conceptions on evolution and creationism. For the past years, I have been studying the growth of conservative groups over Brazilian education. I have experience with both quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches. I have conducted research projects using questionnaires, interviews, focus groups and classroom observation.
