Dr. Ishmael is a contemporary scholar of religion with special interests in Contemporary issues in religion and society, science and religion, comparative religion; inter-religious dialogue and marriage and family studies. He holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Nairobi, MA in Philosophy and Religious Studies and BA with bias in Political Science, Public Administration, Philosophy, Religion and History. He currently works as a part-time lecturer at Kenyatta University and as a full-time private researcher.
Dr. Ishmael has a wide range of publications in the areas New Religious Movements in Africa, Marriage and family in African Christianity, and life and death rituals in African Christianity. His most cited works include his PhD thesis titlled “Contemporary African Christian marriage problems and response in New Religious movements in Nairobi “; Christian responses to separation, divorce & remarriage in Africa, among others. Dr. Ishmael is also an ordained Christian minister who serves as a Bishop of Apostolic Breakthrough Ministries in Kenya.
