OLMOS ALVAREZ, ANA LUCIA

Assistant Researcher at CONICET in Argentina, Ana Lucia Olmos Alvarez holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) and a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. Her research explores the articulations between science and beliefs in the healthcare field, emphasizing therapeutic beliefs and imaginaries related to well-being, the interplay between biomedical and non-biomedical therapeutic resources, the ritual dimension of healing, and the intersections between religion and science in reproductive health.

Ana Lucia has extensive experience conducting ethnographic fieldwork and leading research projects. As a professor, she teaches Cultural Theory and Anthropology of Religion and Symbolism at undergraduate and graduate levels at national universities in Argentina. She serves as the Scientific Coordinator of the journal Salud Colectiva (ISCo-UNLa, Argentina) and as Editor of the journal Ciencias Sociales & Religion (UNICAMP, Brazil). Her work is characterized by a strong emphasis on qualitative methodologies, particularly ethnography, and she has knowledge of international ethics and research standards in the social sciences and health.
