Dr María Cecilia Johnson is an Assistant Researcher at CIECS-CONICET and IPSIS-FCS-UNC in Argentina. She has a PhD. in Gender studies from the University of Cordoba, Argentina. Her field study is the intersection of reproductive health, sexuality, family, and religion. Mainly she focuses on sexual and reproductive health and Assisted Reproductive Technologies. She has also developed other research-related lines addressing the gender and religion intersections: abortion and religion, sexuality and religion, family and religion, and ART policy and neoconservative movements. She is a professor of intervention with families in social work and research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels at national universities in Argentina.

She is part of the Public Health Programme of the CIECS CONICET and the Biomedicine and Belief Studies research group. She is on the Academic Committee for the Master of Bioethics (UNC). She has also served as a Fulbright scholar (2013) and a von Humboldt Foundation scholar (2024).
