CHANG, YING-CHENG

CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY | CULTURE & WELLBEING | SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY

Dr. Ying-Cheng Chang is a social anthropologist (PhD, Australian National University). Her doctoral research documented sociocultural transformation through a comparative view of religion, involving Christian denominations (Pentecostalism and Presbyterianism) and the reconfiguration of traditional indigenous belief and practice.

Her recent research interests have expanded to the mainstream social beliefs in scientific measurements, especially in relation to policy design for social welfare schemes. Taking both qualitative and quantitative research methods, in her current role as an evaluation specialist, she conducts mixed-method research to improve social wellbeing in the policy context. Having engaged in an applied environment involving academia, government and non-for-profit organisations, her research interests particularly focus on the ideology of data science being applied to the mainstream norms and beliefs in the modern society.
