Deepak Kaswan is a Research Scholar at BITS Pilani, specialising in the concept of secularism, particularly the intersection of religion and the state, focusing on Indian secularism. His current research, titled “Selected Issues and Debates on Indian Secularism,” examines pivotal topics such as the Nehru-Liaquat Pact, the state-led reconstruction of desecrated religious temples, and state control over temple administration. Employing a qualitative approach, his work emphasises historical and contextual analysis to understand the evolving nature of Indian secularism.
Deepak also uses quantitative analysis in his broader research, utilising tools such as SPSS to complement his historical insights. His methodological blend allows for a comprehensive understanding of how historical and contemporary debates shape India’s complex dynamics of religion and politics.
He has presented at various conferences and actively participates in academic discussions on secularism.
