Prof. de Silva has published a number of books, chapters and over fifty articles in English with reputed international publishers and has also published in local languages on his credit. He co-authored three publications on ‘Beyond Boundaries: One Hundred Years of Humanities and Social Sciences in Sri Lankan Universities’ (2021) and also an article on ‘Possession of Palm-Leaf Based Ritual Knowledge’ In Palm-leaf Culture & Regional Cultural Heritage, Inheritance and Protection (2022) with Chinese translation.

He has won several prestigious international fellowships including British Academy/ESRC, American Academy of Religion, Sir Radcliffe-Brown and Sir Raymond Firth Fellowship of Royal Anthropological Institute in UK, and Australian Research Council. Prof. de Silva won the CVCD (Committee for Vice Chancellor’s and Directors) excellence award for the most outstanding senior researcher in the field of Humanities, Aesthetic and Social Sciences of Sri Lanka in 2018.
